A TR–DE Company Website: Two Markets, Not a Translation

Y.Emre Konar · multilingual corporate website TR DE

A German menu does not mean you are visible in Germany. Hreflang, offices, intent and a proposal path are built per market.

Multilingual sites are often declared done after Google Translate. German buyers want legal tone, consistent NAP and a URL in their intent; Turkish buyers want speed and a clear proposal. Same slug tree, different sentences.

Do not break hreflang

Inventing a German alternate for a Turkish-only slug makes 404s. This site keeps the same slug in three languages. New articles follow that rule.

Fake local

Berlin in the copy, a Turkish phone only, an English form for DE intent — trust drops. Office, phone and language must match.

Intent lives in the language

“Website erstellen lassen” and “şirket web sitesi yaptırmak” are the same job in different words. Machine translation misses commercial intent.

Legal and forms

Imprint/privacy routes per language. The form on every page in that language. Cookie choices stay equal.

Care

If one language updates and the other waits six months, hreflang lies. A partner or in-house rhythm ships all three in one sprint.

If you are serious about two markets, we draw the language map first. Domain and languages in the form.

Questions companies ask

Is English mandatory?

If you have international buyers, yes. Empty EN pages hurt. TR+DE can be the spine.

Separate domain?

Most SMEs need one domain with locale prefixes. A separate .de only if operations are truly separate.

Is a translation memory enough?

For UI, partly. Commercial pages need a writer; blind translation loses rank and trust.

x-default?

This site defaults to Turkish. German intent should land on DE URLs.

Legal pages in every language?

Yes for that visitor. Mixed-language legal text is risk and SEO noise.
