The software agreement names the works, the shift that must keep running, and who signs

Y.Emre Konar · factory software agreement plant shift

The agreement names the works, the shift that must keep running, and the role that accepts. The source stays with the company. The client accepts is not a role.

Acceptance is a named role at the works, on a named shift, against a named scenario. The client accepts is not a role. A software agreement for a factory that says the factory and never the street will be signed by people who are picturing different gates. Four lines belong in the body: the works, the shift that must keep running, the role that signs, and that the source stays with the company.

The works line

The line carries the street and the name used inside the works. A second works has its own line. It does not borrow the first name. A works that is not open yet is not the subject of this agreement. A works written as later makes the scope unbounded. The boundary of a multi-works job is a separate note: more than one works.

The shift keeps running

Write the shift whose work must continue through go-live. On most plants that is the shift that records output. The release happens outside that shift’s hours, or the agreement says how the shift keeps working during the change. Without that sentence, acceptance lands on the night production stops. If the planning wall is that shift’s tool, the screen itself is a separate piece of work.

The week that wall holds is in weekly line load. The list of repository, licences and accounts is not a repeat of this clause: code handover. The source is opened in the company’s repository as part of custom software.

The role that signs

The role sits inside the works: a production lead, a shift lead, or quality. The role watches a named scenario. The scenario is a job on which that shift can still write the record. We feel it is done is not acceptance. If there are two works, each has its own signing role on its own line.

Left out of the first text

Unnamed future works, a copy of the source that exists only at the supplier, and a feeling of being finished are out. An exit written as a penalty does not take the place of this clause. Exit means the work continues because access already sits with the company. HED Creative in Berlin or Ankara puts the four lines in the body of the agreement. An annex is not there to be remembered later.

Four lines to read before signature

The street of the works, the name of the shift that must not stop, the signing role, and the sentence that the repository is opened in the company’s name. If the four are missing, the text is not signed. If they are present, price can be discussed. The reverse is correcting the scope after the price.

Have the four lines written into the IT partner scope. If that shift’s screen sits in the same brief, read it with weekly line load.

Questions companies ask

Does the word factory replace the works?

No. The line carries the street and the name used inside the works. A second works needs its own line.

Which shift is written?

The shift whose work must continue through go-live. On most plants that is the shift that records output. The release happens outside those hours, or the sentence says how the shift continues.

Who accepts?

A named role inside the works. The client accepts is not a role. The scenario is a job on which that shift can still write the record.

Where does the source stay?

With the company. The repository is opened in the company’s name. A single copy left at the supplier is not accepted.

Does a future works enter the agreement?

Not without a name and a street. A works written as later makes the scope unbounded.
