A ready-made site or a purpose-built one: which frame fits the job

Y.Emre Konar · ready-made site or a purpose-built one

A ready-made site puts your copy on a shared frame. A purpose-built site is shaped around the enquiry path, the languages and any system that must connect.

A ready-made site puts your copy and pictures on a frame other companies also use. A purpose-built site earns its name when the enquiry path, the languages and any connected system are shaped around your work. A prettier theme does not repair the wrong process.

When the shared frame is enough

If the job is a clear company story and one form, the shared frame is often enough. The pages are few, the price is not public, and the buyer leaves an enquiry. Building custom software for that job does not make the decision faster. The frame is the right first release for as long as it can carry your copy. If it cannot, a low starting figure does not change the decision.

When the job needs its own build

If the enquiry depends on a product record, a dealer region or an approval step, the frame is not enough. If each language has its own office, its own inbox and its own pages, a shared theme hides that split. If a portal, a gate or a stock screen is part of the first release, that is not a theme job. It belongs with custom software. Selling the site and the software in one sentence leaves both unclear.

The lock a theme can hide

The risk of a ready-made job is not the look. The company should own the domain, the ad account, and the code. If the frame sits on the supplier account, the paid theme sits on the supplier licence, and the form sits in a third-party panel, you cannot take the site with you. A low start becomes a second invoice because of that lock. A licence that cannot be bought in the company name is written on the first line of the scope.

The decision is not made on a slide

The decision follows what the buyer does on the first step. If they leave an enquiry and the pages are few, the shared frame is the conversation. If a record, a region or a connected system is required, a purpose-built release is the conversation. HED Creative, the partner in Berlin or Ankara, reads that split from the way the work runs, not from a theme gallery. Putting both paths into the first release inflates the calendar.

To have the split written, name the buyer first step on website development. If the tool is a separate question: a company site on WordPress.

Questions companies ask

Is a ready-made site enough for every firm?

Often yes, with one form and few pages. Not if you need a record, a dealer region or a connected system. Write the first step on the form.

Does a purpose-built site look more serious?

The look does not carry the decision. A purpose-built release is for a process the frame cannot carry. If the process fits, the frame is enough.

Can the theme grow later?

Adding copy and pages, yes. An approval step, a portal or a stock screen is another scope. Forcing it into the theme locks the job.

Who should hold the theme licence?

A licence that cannot be bought in the company name is written on the first line. A theme on the supplier account can stop when you leave.

What if we want both in the first release?

The calendar inflates. The first release is the step the buyer takes today. The second step stays as its own line.
